Larry Jordan: When I think immersive, I think of VR and headsets. Is that what you're talking about here?

Phil Galler: No, not here, but I think it also pertains in some of the other work we do and I think that looking at VR, augmented reality, augmented reality specifically, is going to be the future where filmmakers end up in some capacity. I think learning how to adapt our immersive environment workflows now into augmented reality applications that will work in the future is a huge chunk of why I'm actually here at NAB is to figure out what we can do.

LJ: I see augmented reality as being something that developers work with as opposed to something filmmakers work with because it's really an overlay of a technical construct; not a filmmaker telling a story. So do you see that augmented reality as being something filmmakers should pay attention to? Because developers, I can see, should be all over it.

PG: Yeah. I think that, right now, it's something developers are using heavily, but I think we'll find that artists and filmmakers end up having to use augmented reality because it becomes part of what we, as humans, are going to have as a huge chunk of society. An element of society is going to become this augmented reality and, because of that, we're going to naturally tell stories with it.
