Jakob Ballinger of The Light Bridge | Interview snippets from NAB BuZZ 2019 podcasts with Larry Jordan
Larry Jordan: And welcome back. It's day two of the NAB Show. This is Larry Jordan. It's getting on toward the afternoon but we've got an interesting show this hour because we're going to be looking at lighting. Our first guest is Jakob Ballinger. He is the founder and a gaffer of a company called The Light bridge. We talked with him on our weekly show a couple months ago. There's so much cool stuff they're doing. I wanted to invite them back.
Jakob Ballinger: Welcome.
Larry Jordan: How would you describe The Light Bridge?
Jakob Ballinger: Well, it's a company that was founded of the reason the gaffer working with this DP, and he had this idea to make lighting with special reflectors. And I want to keep his legacy alive and so I said, "OK, I'm going to jump for it," and found this company. And, you know, I see my job as a gaffer bridging between the artistic and the technical part, so Light Bridge kind of came close to that.
Larry Jordan: Now, how would you describe the role of a gaffer which puts your background in perspective?
