Mike Pace of Contour Design | Interview snippets from NAB BuZZ 2018 podcasts with Larry Jordan
Larry Jordan: For people who haven't heard of Contour Design, how would you describe the company?
Mike Pace: We're a company that designs products with two very basic principles: productivity and comfort. We really like to have simplistic designs that have really good applications for people, especially in post-production, or really any of the creative fields out there, especially digitally.
LJ: Give me an example of the kind of products you've created?
MP: We have the shuttle. Anyone in the industry has probably seen it because we've had it for about 15 years now. If it's not broke, don't fix it, right? It's a productivity device that really goes back to the reel to reel editing days. It allows you to have your job shuttle that has timeline control and also simplifies the keyboard down to shortcuts instead of having to remember really complex things. We really think of trying to edit with a keyboard is like trying to dig a hole with a rake. It's a tool that's really just not meant for the job you're trying to do.
