Emery Wells of Frame.io | Interview snippets from NAB BuZZ 2018 podcasts with Larry Jordan

Larry Jordan: That's cool. I got an email from you, just a week or so ago, saying,  "Congratulations to us. We have made a major change to Frame.io." What's the cool new stuff?

Emery Wells: We are previewing the Frame.io here at NAB. Really, big story with the all-new is that we are expanding the collaboration toolset to work with all different types of creative media. We're still focused on being the video collaboration product, but filmmaking is a composite of all the creative artsÔøΩ it's photography, illustration, writing, design, and musicÔøΩ and when you're creating video, you have to work with all those asset types, so we're introducing three new asset types to Frame.io. The first is a multi-page PDF, which is great for your storyboards and your scripts. The second is a more advanced image viewer, so we have things like a loop mode so you can hold down shift on a super high-resolution image and get a little loop of 100%. Just good things like that. We support hundreds of new RAW image formats, so you can upload, you know, if you did a location scout or casting, you can upload all of that too and so just better tools for working with images. And then, of course, 50% of video is audio.

LJ: Noooo.

EW: That's right; it's often forgotten by the editors maybe. We have a new audio viewer with waveform and audio meters just so you can have a better experience listening to, looking at, and commenting on audio.

LJ: And we can see waveforms, did you say?

EW: Yes, waveforms.

LJ: You guys have been busy rewriting. That's a lot of work.
