Michael Shabun of Insta360 | Interview snippets from NAB BuZZ 2018 podcasts with Larry Jordan

Larry Jordan: So it's like a panoramic shot?

Michael Shabun: It is, except it's a full panorama all around you. The beauty of this product is not only can you use it for traditional photo and video capture, but you can also live stream in full 360 to your social media, Facebook, YouTube, any site that accepts an RTMP server feed. Each lens is 200 degrees so, based on the overlap everything is live staged. The challenge with 360 up until this point has been, people don't want to sit at their computers for a week at a time and stitch things together manually because your content becomes irrelevant and it's too costly by the time you actually have to edit. So, by having a live stitch it eliminates all of the hurdles of why people never wanted to shoot in 360 in years prior.

LJ: So it strikes me that what you give us is the ability to experiment with this video in a round, in a very inexpensive and very flexible format.

MS: Absolutely and we started as a software company whereas a lot of these camera makers who are making 360 cameras, they can make the hardware and it's great, but what they can't do is create an easy user experience on the app side and we can do things like, we have a selfie stick that attaches to this camera. Every time you use the selfie stick, it auto erases from every shot, so it's literally like you have a Droneball everywhere you go. Super cool.
