Download the Simon Says Mac app and select Install DaVinci Resolve from the main menu. For PC/Linux users, skip to the next step.
Jump back to Resolve and select the timeline you want to subtitle/caption. Then go to the menu Workspace > Scripts > Simon Says and select 2 Subtitle-Caption Timeline. Switch to the Simon Says app when your timeline has finished rendering, select the language of your video and click Transcribe. English, French, German and 100 other languages are supported. If you’re on PC/Linux, select Quick Export in DaVinci Resolve, upload the video into a new Simon Says project, then click Transcribe.
In minutes your video edit will be accurately transcribed with A.I. Next, preview how subtitles/captions will look on-screen by selecting your transcript in Simon Says, and going to Export > Visual Subtitle Editor. You can combine and split subtitle cards as desired. If you want to translate to foreign language subtitles, return to the export screen and choose from 100+ languages.
From your Simon Says transcript, click Export and select Subtitles with SRT selected. The SRT file downloads as a zip file — double-click to open! Back in DaVinci Resolve, click File > Import > Import Subtitles and select the SRT file you just downloaded. Drag and drop the subtitles/captions from the media pool into your timeline, positioning the clips where the dialogue begins. Then select your subtitle/caption clips, open the inspector, and navigate to the Track Style panel to tweak styling!
