How To Utilize Subtitle Timings

When using the visual subtitle editor, our subtitles will automatically be set to your footage, including spacing and length of time on screen. If you are looking to edit your subtitle timings, here's a few things you should know.

Edit Text Directly in the Subtitle Editor

If you need to make any last minute edits in your subtitles, you can easily edit and manipulate the text directly within the subtitle editor. This includes making your text bold or italic, or even capitalizing and de-capitalizing your selections.

Editing Your Timings

Although our subtitle editor is extremely good at making your subtitles look fantastic, sometimes you will want to customize your subtitle timing to your exact specifications. If you would like to edit the timings, all you have to do is click the pencil icon to the right of your timecodes, and you can manually restructure your timings. If you do manually restructure, here are some things to avoid:

• overlapping subtitle timings during manual input will automatically clear all gaps between your subtitles, but it's best to check the subtitle below's timing so you do not overwrite it.
• If your timecode starts after 00:00:00, make sure not to start your timings before your video start time.
• If you are adjusting timecodes in your NLE, make sure you do not enter in a different frame rate than your timeline frame rate. This will offset your subtitle timing in your timeline.
