Paul Tapper of Nugen Audio | Interview snippets from NAB BuZZ 2018 podcasts with Larry Jordan
Larry Jordan: Is that normalizing or is it just such a simplyÔøΩ in other words, is the whole thing coming up as a level or you do get an instant by instant basis like compressor?
Paul Tapper: It's not at all a total compressor. It's trying to be as transparent as possible. So our philosophy in terms of product design is always that human beings should make great decisions on the machine to help you to hit a particular number. So it's just a linear officer, but then it flies True Peak limit again in paces, based at the levels.
LJ: Now having spentÔøΩ I, actually my career started in radio, years and years ago. I lasted for two months and was fired because I was the second turner so we won't talk about that painful part of my life but I've always been worried about batch processing of audio because I feel like I'm not only putting it into a black box and I have no control over what it's doing but it's going to sound terrible when it comes out. How do you reassure me that my life is not going to end when I run my audio through your gear?
PT: Really the best reassurance is for you to try it out and to listen because you have to trust your own ears. But I can tell you that the processing we're doing is as minimally invasive as possible.
