Larry Jordan: Again, for the smaller shops, the guys that have the smaller budgets, where's the best place to start? Clearly, with Adobe tools, I don't mean to minimize that, but where do I go?

Chris Bobotis: The best advice I can give is start making mistakes. Don't overinvest in cameras; go and buy yourself something just to get well-versed, just to start to understand and respect the medium. I think you have to think of it as tailored scripts or tailored solutions for the medium. It's not about repurposing or regurgitating older assets. The medium is its own thing. As I said, you lose the frame; you're going beyond the screen and the frame. That presents its own challenges, but it also presents its own opportunities. For a smaller shop starting off, buy the cheapest camera that will just get you shooting to get you editing, to get you making these mistakes.

LJ: So don't focus on the technology; focus on the story?

CB: The story. It's always about the story, always. I think that's one of the great things we did at Mettle in my previous life in the industry and what we continue to do at Adobe is we let you work the way you know and love with products, like After Effects and Premiere Pro and Photoshop for that matter, and we take care of all the madness that comes with this new medium transparently in the background. We'll introduce a new UX. There will be a new UI, but there'll be compelling reasons, so you'll invest that extra 10 minutes that you need to, but you'll get a great return on your investment in that you're being able to do even more.
