Larry Jordan: How big do you need to be to take advantage of your system? A small work group or an enterprise or where?

Bjorn Kolbeck: You can start with 4 servers. That's the minimum. And then you can grow by adding drives and servers and there's really no upper limit. You can go from a small installation to hundreds of servers.

LJ: So, a server could be as few as 4 drives or as many as 18, perhaps even more. So, you're not looking at the number of drives inside the servers, you're looking at the server itself, the entity of the server?

BK: Exactly. The number of drives then depends on the use case, whether you're looking at more archival or if you look, for example, at high speed storage for video rendering, then you might have a few flash drives in the server.

LJ: A company that does something similar to this is Object Matrix. How do you differ from what they're doing?

BK: We are a file system, we provide file system interfaces for Windows, Mac and Linux so you can run applications directly on Quobyte like your video editing, color grading, video rendering, transcoding. Basically, all the applications in your workflow that run on local disk or NFS can directly work with Quobyte.
