In this quick, 4-step guide, we'll show you how to accurately transcribe audio using Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) with Avid Pro Tools.
How to transcribe in Avid Pro Tools with A.I.

1. Upload files and transcribe

Log in to A.I. transcription site Simon Says at www.simonsaysai.com and create a new project. Upload your video/audio files. Select the original language of the files and click ‘Transcribe'.

2. Edit transcript and add speaker labels, notes, and bookmarks

Review the transcript, add speaker labels, create notes, and bookmark snippets. Simon Says will auto-sync the timecode as you edit. Optionally, you can also translate the transcript via the export window - we support 100+ languages.

3. Export translation files

Next, go to ‘Export’ and under ‘Other’, select ‘Avid Pro Tools AAF’. If you have translations, make sure ‘All files in the project’ is checked. Unzip the downloaded file.

4. Import translation files into Avid Pro Tools

Drag the unzipped AAF file(s) into the same folder as your audio/video file that you transcribed to make re-linking easy. Open Avid Pro Tools and create a new Project; make sure it matches your media files’ specifications. Finally, go to ‘File’ > ‘Import’ > ‘Session Data…’ and select your AAF file(s).

You should now have a new timeline in Avid Pro Tools with your transcript attached to your media files as markers. Thanks to A.I., editing podcasts, audiobooks, and voice recordings is easier and faster than ever!
