How to transcribe and generate ScriptSync files for Avid Media Composer

1. Upload files and transcribe

In Simon Says, create a new project and add your media files. We recommend a format such as h264 MOV as it preserves timecode. Choose the original language of the files and select Transcribe. Give Simon Says a few minutes to work its magic.

2. Add speaker labels, notes, and bookmarks

Next, review the transcript, edit, add speaker labels (via the caret icon), create notes (via the paper icon), and bookmark snippets (highlight and click on the bookmark icon). Optionally, you can translate the transcript - Simon Says supports 100+ languages.

3. Export to ScriptSync file

Once your transcript is ready, click Export and, under Avid Media Composer, select ScriptSync. Unzip the downloaded file.

4. Link transcript with clips via ScriptSync

Switch to Avid Media Composer, navigate to File > New > New Script, and open the text file received from Simon Says. Open the bin containing the media clips associated with the transcript. Highlight the transcript, then drag and drop the clips from the bin into the Script window. Finally, click on the box under the thumbnail, go to Script > ScriptSync in the menu and click OK.

Your transcript is now synced in Avid via ScriptSync! With all those hours saved, you can now better focus on bringing your story to life.
